All regular bikers must visit the beautifully scenic Nashua River Rail Trail. The trail is 11 miles long and allows visitors to take in the gorgeous foliage and wildlife around them. The rail trail is open from sunrise to sunset and horseback riding, cross-country skiing, as well as simply running/walking the trail are all permitted.
Passionate billiards players come from near and far to the Billiards Café. The café features a menu of pizza and appetizers with a bar and lounge area, but their main event is the 13 pool tables for all ages of the public to use. They offer special rates for families with children and active military members in addition to two private function rooms for reservation.
A hot summer destination in Ayer is that of Sandy Pond Beach. Swimmers can explore the lake from 12pm-7pm daily in the summer where any resident swims free and non-resident children for $5 (adults $8). Swim lessons are also available in July and August.
